Holiday in Devon – 1st to 8th of August 2024
Thursday: Drove to Bigsbury-on-sea. Arrived at 15:00 – left London around 9. Stopped 3x. Unpacked then went to the beach for a bit, high tide. Eggs on toast for dinner.

Your break in Devon at Fairwinds is nearly here. The lock box code is 1075 and this box is situated on the left hand side of the door. The postcode is TQ7 4AT , the property is easy to find as there is only one road into BIgbury on Sea, just follow the road round passing the beach car park on your left. The road rises and crosses over Ringmore Road
Friday: Down to the beach, low tide time. Jeff went back up to get Daniel from the house. Then drove to Kingsbridge to pick Ade up and buy food at Tesco. Cooked lasagne for dinner. Walked on low tide to Burgh Island, went to the top, had a drink at the Pilchards Inn https://www.burghisland.com/the-pilchard-inn/. Watched Nimona.
Saturday: South Milton Sands (cloudy) until early afternoon. Ate delicious burgers at https://www.facebook.com/RockboxDevon then off to Hope Cove. Bought sunglasses for Luana and Daniel. Walked around a bit. Went to beach but it smelt foul. I don’t understand how all those people were just sitting there and swimming. Left after 20mins and decided to go home. It was nearly 5pm by then. Dinner at home, Ade cooked + Olympics. Played 21 and cards against humanity. Very funny. Watched starts and shooting stars with Ade, Lu, Jeff until bedtime in the balcony. Pretty decent sky!
Sunday: Beach near us (Bigbury-on-Sea) in the morning – then Sunday roast as it’s mine/our birthversary (15 years married) and Daniel left at 4pm. Walked to Challaborough, which has a big holiday caravan park, looked inside showroom caravans. They cost around £50k, are very nice but you are not actually allowed to live on them full time. Went to shop, got swimming costume for Luana, walked back up. Played games and watched Olympics in the evening.
Monday: Went to Pennywell Farm around 11… https://www.pennywellfarm.co.uk/ – watched show with https://www.danthehat.co.uk/ – very funny. Lu did a bit of the show with him (hat on the head). Stayed there until 4pm. Not a sunny day. Jeff cooked Bulgur Wheat and Chicken for dinner.
Tuesday: Bigbury-on-sea beach during low tide – 11ish until 4. Found most amazing part of the huge beach – one of the best I’ve ever been to – and got our own private little beach, surrounded by big rocks. Wish we found this place sooner, it’s so nice! Sat on beach cafe for a bit then went home. Cooked mac&cheese and pasta with onion+garlic for the 4 of us.
Weds: Lunch in very nice place (https://theoldwarehousekingsbridge.co.uk/) near bus station in Kingsbridge, as Ade going back today. On the beach (low tide) from 2:30pm until 5:30pm. Building a little city out of rocks/kite flying/swimming/javelin throwing. What an amazing beach! Watched Rush Hour 3 in the evening.
Thursday: Packing up and driving to London 10:00 – 17:00. It rained a lot overnight, lots of puddles, also raining during the drive. A38 was closed when we got there, but luckily it opened and we were front of the queue behind the police clearing cones. So we were holding back the traffic and moving forward slowly while cones were moved.
