Tuesday 2nd of March 2010 – Secondary school admission

You went away to school PGL trip yesterday, with a huge suitcase, sleeping bag and some sweets.

Meanwhile us parents were left behind to wait for the school results anxiously. eAdmissions claimed we’d be able to view the results online, from 7 this morning, but the site was down when I checked.

I went off to the station, but the Northern line was suspended due to signal failure, platform was packed! I waited for about 10 minutes. I had actually gone to work earlier than usual: no breakfast, and it just seemed to get worse, so I came home to work from here.

The website was totally down, so I resigned myself to not knowing the outcome for a bit when something turned up on my inbox…

The above child has been offered a place at:
Chestnut Grove School (Wandsworth)

I wish I could frame those words in gold. I was so happy I actually cried!!! Amazing news. Well done you. Those two months of hard work paid off, and it gives me hope, you weren’t one of those kids who spent years preparing for the tests with private tuition. We just worked through the books together from September, for about 3 hours a week. You actually deserve this place!

Of course, ideally all schools should be good, but sadly that’s not the case.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have to wait until Friday to give you the news though, meh!
